Welcome to Matrescent Mind — a space created to support the emotional and psychological journey of becoming a parent. This practice is rooted in safety, compassion, and growth, offering a place where your experience can be shared honestly and without judgment. We welcome mothers — and fathers — to reach out when parenthood feels more complex, overwhelming, or different than you expected.
The name Matrescent Mind is inspired by the concept of matrescence, a term originally coined by anthropologist Dana Raphael. Matrescence describes the profound developmental transition into motherhood, encompassing the physical, emotional, relational, and psychological changes that occur during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Like adolescence, it is a time of transformation — and yet it is often experienced without adequate support or understanding.
At Matrescent Mind, my goal is to create a space where your evolution into parenthood feels supported and seen. A place where conflicting emotions can coexist — where you can love this season and struggle with it at the same time. Where tears and laughter are both welcome. Your experience does not need to be minimized, fixed, or explained away to deserve care.
We were never meant to navigate matrescence alone. Here, you don’t have to.
